DISASTER!

On June 13, 2010, I was working on my truck (a 1995 heavy duty 3/4 ton extended cab 4×4 with a big block V8 and a 1 ton rear axle), when it rolled over me.  Yes, it LITERALLY ran over me.

I was taken to the hospital, and they CT (cat) scanned me, and I needed surgery that evening. I severed tendons in my arm, ripped my scalp, cut open my knee, and had torn muscles in my left shoulder and neck.

It took me about 2 months to heal, and another 2 months before I could work. Since I am in sales, this means I did not have a sale during the whole time I was out, and so I earned no commissions or money. I did not get a sale until the end of November 2010.

To make matters worse, when I attempted to contact my health insurance company, I found that they seemed to be out of business.  I contacted my state Insurance Division, and they found that my insurer was not licensed (nor were they every licensed) to sell insurance in my state!

The problem is that I now owe over $55 THOUSAND in medical bills, even though I paid over $600 per month in health insurance premiums in the 3 years prior to my accident.   That money is GONE.  POOF!  Sayonara!

So I lost over $22 thousand (for premium payments), plus over $55 thousand in current bills, plus I was not able to sell any thing (my day job is commissioned sales) during the time I was recovering from my accident.

I found a contingency lawyer to help us but they told me that it could be 3 to 5 years before we reach any kind of resolution, and of course, they cannot guarantee me that we will win.  They also take a LARGE portion of any settlement we might get.  I had to agree to this, as I cannot afford to pay them hourly until we reach a resolution.

I am in the process of making payment arrangements to all 5 of the medical providers that cared for me after my accident. Given the poor housing market (and my sales numbers), as well as my new $55 THOUSAND dollar medical bills, I have no money left over for Project MV8R.

This will put a delay on Project MV8R, but I am committed to finishing it as soon as I get my financial situation straightened out.

Warning:  The photos below are very graphic as they show my injuries before and after my surgery.
